The little monkey's story (for D&D)

Very far away- in Africa- in the valley of Congo
The trees raised high, the rhinos swam the river
And other species enjoyed all the nature offered.
That April’s sky seemed to be nearer and clearer.

But, two brown monkeys seemed so sad and pale
Their son’d gone missing- a hurt they couldn’t bare
They stroke each-other’s head-
to ease each-other’s pain
They hoped and hoped to see him,
but saw him nowhere.

They choose the highest trees to have a look around
So stressful they became,
no words they said for hours
They forgot the food, they brought with them to eat
Forgot the water, they brought with them to drink
They couldn’t stop thinking, stood all ear and eye
To see him maybe coming, to hear him maybe cry!
“Where was he? Was he safe? Would he be back?”
Questions mum and dad kept asking ’til got dark.

They were so upset- their eyes in tears
They even thought their son ‘d gone fast asleep-
Alone, frightened, hungry, thirsty in the cold
No mum and dad to care for him,
to keep him warm!

Then they heard an eagle fly above tree tops
Breaking the deep silence of the Congo’s valley
Something heavy-like in her nest she dropped
Then she left again- took off- for the skies...

As the sun raised higher the rhinos swam under
As the day became clearer life returned again
Species of all sort left their homes in hunger
Not the monkeys though- they looked sad and pale.

Then they heard something. Could it be...?
They looked at each-other. And looked. And looked.

The eagle returned clapping her wings
While the other birds for the skies took.

They looked up and saw- can you guess what?
From the tree top down was climbing...

He looked up and the eagle looked down at him
His saviour then flied clapping her wings...

The eagle had a secret she’d promised to keep
That’s why monkey was shy, but wasn't fair
To hurt him more by telling the world
That monkey fall dizzy and fell in the pond!

But, let me tell you if you want to know
What the eagle did after what she saw;
But, this story's best to stay in the class
Otherwise the monkey will be embarrassed!

As the monkey approached the pond- feeling thirsty
One shinny afternoon, warm enough, but breezy
His legs got stuck in the mud and his tail
Stood up like a tree branch and so thin, so frail
His face just stuck in the mud as his legs
He couldn't move at all and the eagle begs
To fly and help him get off the pond, then clean
His muddy hair, his tail so no one could see
What happened to him, how he became;
No because he fall, but from fear of shame...

The eagle understood what the monkey meant
Quickly then she rushed in the monkey's help
And lifted him off and sat him on the grass
Next to the clean stream that run quietly past
And spoke to him, and promised not to tell
How he fall dizzy, how then he fell...

She then told the monkey that another time
When he feels he's thirsty he should tell his dad
Or his mum who's ready to take care of him
Wandering not alone by the pond or stream
For a little monkey knows not all it should
And ends up swimming not the pond, but mud...

So remember why we should think, then do
What we've been taught of, can then help us through.
